The GEN5 tourniquet is made of very strong, lightweight components. Its construction allows the tourniquet to slide quickly over a limb. If the limb is trapped, the tourniquet can be quickly detached from the hook and reattached around the limb in the hook without the need to re-thread the strap. The SOF® Tourniquet is the easiest to use and militarily approved, which can result in less blood loss and ultimately better patient care.

Due to the absolutely safe and user-friendly closure of the SOF® Tourniquet, the tourniquet can be applied very quickly, reducing the stress factor and shortening the application time, thus reducing blood loss. The wide strap not only provides higher compression but also offers more comfort for the injured person. As with all SOF® tourniquets, the windlass of the SOF® tourniquet is milled from a single piece of aircraft aluminum, preventing stability problems under higher loads, for example when applied to the thigh.

The design of the SOF® Tourniquet reduces the risk of accidental opening or failure due to material fatigue. Unlike Velcro closures, the SOF® Tourniquet still works when soiled, frozen, wet, or soaked.
