A modern emergency go-bag for 2026 should enable you to survive independently for at least 72 hours without electricity, water, gas, or internet. The government's new vision of self-reliance divides the emergency kit into two parts: the general emergency kit and the go-bag. The go-bag is of increasing importance because in an emergency, one must be able to evacuate or flee to a safe place quickly.

Think of a flood, wildfire, sabotage, or drone attack. A safe place can be an emergency shelter such as a sports hall, underground garage, metro, or tent camp.

1- Water and food

• Drinking water in ration pouches of 100ml are a good dosage, are soft to carry in a backpack, and do not break easily. For practical reasons, one cannot carry much more than 6 liters of drinking water in a backpack. This is enough to survive for 72 hours.
• Emergency food NRG-5 dry food, 3 packs of 500g to survive for 72 hours.
• A water filter that works quickly and reliably and can also be used as a drinking bag.
• Water purification tablets disinfect clear water from viruses and bacteria.
• Mobile cooking stove: folding cooking stove or emergency gas stove
• Fuel for cooking stove: fuel tablets or butane gas cartridge
• Cutlery set with bottle and can opener
• Canteen with aluminum cup: cup can be used to warm food.
• Small cup / mug with carabiner, can be used to warm food.

2- Information and communication

3- Protection against the elements

• Insulating mat: protection against moisture and cold if you have to sleep on the ground.

4- Safety and first aid

5- Transport carry bag, backpack or box

• Large backpack 65 liter capacity, with the possibility to attach an insulating mat and large enough to store the sleeping bag. Preferably with Molle webbing to which you can attach additional pouches.
• Waterproof transport bag with roll-top closure to store clothes dry. 13 liters for a small amount of clothing, 25 liter dry bag for a large amount of clothing in a duffle bag.
