The PGD U-line side plates NIJ Level 4 are designed to provide additional protection to the sides of the torso, supplementing the front and back plates in bulletproof vests or plate carriers. Side plates are used to protect vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver without significantly reducing mobility or comfort in a high-risk environment where the threat can also come from the side, such as in trenches or other tactical situations.

Product features

The plate is made of Monolithic SIC, which means there is a large piece of ceramic on the front of the ballistic hard armor plate. The plate is covered with a very thin foam layer to protect the ceramic from impacts, extreme temperatures such as heat and cold, and also to catch spall upon bullet impact. Furthermore, the plate is encased in a 100% water-repellent Cordura cover, which provides protection against water, oil, and other similar liquids, ensuring the plate's integrity and durability under various conditions.
